Bill Steele, Mayor of Port Colborne
Bill Steele has served as the Mayor of Port Colborne for the past 8 years, focusing on community rebuilding and investment. By working with higher levels of government, he has brought unprecedented investments and hundreds of jobs to the city while securing infrastructure funding.
Prior to becoming mayor, he spent 17 years as a City Councillor and served as a two-time chair of the Niagara Police Services Board. He also owns and operates his own insurance business.
His community involvement includes 35 years of coaching youth sports, serving as president of his local minor hockey association, Lions Club, and Jaycees, and serving on the boards of the Niagara College Foundation and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
He is married to Debby and has three children: Mitch, Mack, and Riley.

Building Port Colborne
Water & Wastewater
Bill, like many residents, is deeply concerned about the cost of water to you, the ratepayer. Over the past 8 years, Bill has focused on water and wastewater infrastructure renewal, making the largest investments since the 1970s. This will ultimately lead to a reduction in water rates as we move forward and continue to invest in our water and wastewater infrastructure.
Healthcare Closer to Home
Bill has prioritized healthcare. When Niagara Health closes our hospital and UCC in 2028, we will be prepared with the new Port Colborne Community Health Hub, thanks to our Community Health and Wellness Action Plan. This will enhance primary health care along with after-hours care, diagnostics, rehabilitation, seniors and women's care, and the potential for many other services for our citizens.
Childcare That Works
We have started our new 50-space facility in Humberstone in partnership with the YMCA. In addition, our 42-unit seniors and single-parent apartment building on Chestnut Street was created in partnership with Port Cares. Finally, our new King Street affordable 50-unit apartment was completed in partnership with Niagara Regional Housing.
